Geist Home Remodel
Interior Designer: Jennifer Ousley
Revived a dated kitchen and adjacent Hearth Room. The goal was to improve function, comfort and create a design to reflect their lifestyle.
The newly configured space was created to enhance beautiful view of the lake. This was achieved by closing a wall to allow a large window on adjacent wall to look out to lake. The window was framed with large beveled hand glazed tile and layered with walnut floating shelves.
Kitchen is a mix of modern and rustic touches with elements of copper, forged metal, Wood elements and stone. The copper hood makes a statement, custom designed with forged steel detail and rivets. Copper was continued throughout with a large farmhouse sink and striations of copper and warm grays in the Quartzite countertops.
The hearth room was given new function by eliminating breakfast nook and creating an inviting seating area looking out to the lake. All is in the details with a mix use of hair on hide, leather, tweeds, naitrim and plaids. Creating warmth by re-facing fireplace with a natural stone in tones from the kitchen area and using a reclaimed barn beam for the mantle for a rustic touch. Adding a pop of color with an accent wall in blue tones to bring the outside in. Abstract art ties the 2 rooms together
